The Super 14 is the largest Rugby union football club championship in the southern hemisphere, consisting of four teams from Australia (Queensland/Reds, New South Wales/Waratahs, Southern NSW & ACT/Brumbies and Western Australia/Force), five teams from New Zealand (Auckland/Blues, Waikato/Chiefs, Wellington/Hurricanes, Canterbury/Crusaders and Otago/Highlanders) and five teams from South Africa (Free State/Cheetahs, Western Cape/Stormers, Kwazulu Natal/Sharks, Gauteng/Lions and Northern Gauteng/Bulls). The fourteen sides all play against one another once in the regular season, with no divisional or pool system. With each team granted one bye week, this phase of the competition runs for fourteen weeks.. considered as the best in the world. Ofcourse it’s interesting to watch the teams that might be promoted to this League.

If you are from the Northern hemisphere or Europe in particular you have probably heard of the Heineken Cup. The Super 15 is very much the same just that it is the Southern Hemisphere equivalent. The Super 14 as we now know it is an exapnded version of the Super 12 which started in 1996. For the 2006 season the tournament was expanded from 12 teams to 14 teams.
